...to younger self

You beautiful caterpillar.

I am so sorry that I rushed your

metamorphosis,

Before you were able to live authentically in your season.

I tried to force your transformation

And in that, inflicted wounds that were harder to heal than any that others have inflicted.

I apologize for not standing up for your beauty and allowing others standards to influence how I saw you.

I appreciate how hard you fought until your reflection became gratifying.

Although I cursed, hurt and emotionally broke you down, you persisted despite all the negativity.

I should have taken better care of you,

But I too was lost in the narrative and comparisons of others.

So, again I am sorry it has taken me so long to appreciate the true, authentic beauty that is you.

I love that you have finally believed you are deserving of the unconditional love that Christ has already reserved for you,

And that you are able to spread your wings despite the weather you may face.

I love that you are finally coming into your own and reflecting an image unique to you.

I love that you are self aware, open to healing and owning up to your wrongs.

I am most of all grateful that you are now giving yourself grace. Instead of abusing yourself for what you view as shortcomings, you are now truly extending a love close to that of which your Saviour gave you… one that is unconditional and true.

Forgiveness starts with YOU! Improving our relationships starts with extending kindness to ourselves.

What would you say to your younger self now that you've overcome so many obstacles that were stacked against you?
